As a member of the AWS Support team you will be at the forefront of this transformational technology assisting a global list of companies that are taking advantage of a growing set of services and features to run their mission-critical applications. You will work with leading companies in this space and directly with the engineering teams within Amazon developing these new capabilities.

The AWS Support team is seeking engineers that enjoy solving problems, working with customers, and have technical backgrounds from a variety of different fields including Linux/Windows systems administration, database design and optimization, big data analysis, network administration, and dev ops. This role supports our services that focus on application services including API Gateway, CloudSearch, IoT, Lambda, Simple Workflow, and SQS. Developers are doing amazing things with these services and we love helping them succeed. Support engineers may field general guidance questions from customers such as setting up a test API to helping them scale their application and optimize performance to support customers on a global scale or troubleshooting complex multi-tier applications running on AWS. Our support engineers are also the “voice of the customer” and have a strong voice in to the development teams for recurring issues or feature requests. Basic qualifications

Experience with web-based applications and HTTP

Knowledge of client/server and distributed systems / Cloud architecture patterns

Experience scripting or developing in at least one of the following languages:

– Python
– Ruby
– Powershell / Bash
– Java
– .NET (C#)
– JavaScript
– iOS (Objective-C / Swift)

Experience with troubleshooting code

Experience developing against and working with REST API based services

Knowledge of Linux or Windows system administration

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Customer service experience / strong customer focus

Strong multi-tasking skills

Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills and experience

Self-starter who is excited about learning new technologies on a daily basis

Open to working 1 weekend day as part of an offset 5 day week (Sun-Thur or Tues-Sat)


Preferred Qualifications
· Prior working experience with API Gateway, CloudSearch, EC2, Lambda, IoT, Simple Workflow, SQS, SNS
· Knowledge of application optimization (i.e. parallel computing concepts)
· Exposure to Mobile application development (iOS / Android)
· Messaging and Queueing experience
· Detailed knowledge of networking protocols: DNS, HTTP, SSL, SMTP, TCP
· Exposure to security concepts / best practices
· Expertise with iperf, MTR, traceroute, dig
· Experience with search engines (solr / lucene)
· Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
